Delivering a statement on Wednesday, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh stated that in his view, collaboration between the federal government and educational institutions is necessary to fund and construct affordable student housing.

He also pointed out that the housing market in Canada is one of the worst in the world and is designed to favour billionaires and investors instead of working people, families, and students in his opinion.

Singh added International students are not to blame in his view, but rather a lack of affordable housing options built by the consecutive Conservatives and the Liberal administrations over the last 18 years.
