Sources at the scene told Al Jazeera that 15 people had been killed in the mosque attack with many wounded. An explosion at a mosque in the city of Herat in western Afghanistan killed a high-profile pro-Taliban cleric as well as more than a dozen civilians.

The blast went off in the Guzargah Mosque in Herat during Friday noon prayers.
