Minister quitting over death threats calls for more action from social media firms

Conservative minister Mike Freer told Sophy Ridge social media companies are giving people the "green light" to abuse and threaten politicians.

Mr Freer, who has served as the MP for Finchley and Golders Green since 2010, said he was resigning after a raft of death threats.

He called on social media platforms to "get to the root cause" of the problem.
