Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist has told the Home Affairs Committee he didn't feel any political pressure to police the protests at the coronation of King Charles in a certain way especially after the introduction of the Public Order Act, which gave the Met Police new powers to tackle protests.

He said the coronation was "an historic moment of huge national significance" and a "once in a lifetime event", with 312 dignitaries in need of protection in one place on top of the usual policing needs.

"The stakes were enormously high so I absolutely felt pressure," said Commissioner Twist. "But that wasn't political pressure, it was pressure to do a good job."
