Chair of the Women and Equalities Committee Caroline Nokes has outlined the potential reasons for "stark" racial disparities in maternal deaths.

The Tory MP said the reasons were "very complex" but they largely concerned inequality in housing, education, and the way a mother's concerns are handled inside hospitals.
