Marine Fisheries Bill Won’t Harm Indian Fishermen, Says Union Minister

Minister of State for Fisheries, Dr L Murugan, has assured fishermen in Tamil Nadu that the Marine Fisheries Bill would not levy high fines and criminalise Indian fishermen. He gave this assurance after consultations with fishermen in Chennai who expressed concerns about the Bill. He also shared his plans for fishermen in the state and on the continuing attacks by the Sri Lankan Navy on Indian fishermen who trespass or stray into Lankan waters. NDTV's Sam Daniel caught up with Dr L Murugan.
