West African leaders are scrambling to respond to the political crisis in Mali, after the colonel behind a military coup this week was named the new interim president.
Assimi Goita takes over from Bah Ndaw, who was arrested on Thursday and released only after he agreed to resign.
Goita has pledged to hold elections next year, and will attend the emergency ECOWAS meeting held in Accra on Sunday.
