The Malaysian government has extended a two-week nationwide lockdown, shutting all non-essential businesses, as the country is fighting a surge in the cases of COVID-19.
More than 80 percent of reported infections do not belong to an identified cluster, indicating the infections are sporadic or unlinked.
Public health policy specialists say this data indicates a lockdown will not be enough to reverse the trend of rising infections.
