At the same time, it has pledged to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by 2030 by 55% from 1990 levels and to be carbon neutral by 2050. A key part of Norway’s plan to meet those goals is a multibillion-dollar carbon capture and storage project utilizing the North Sea.
