Alaska Airlines pilot Joseph David Emerson, 44, of Pleasant Hill, California, was charged in a criminal complaint with one count of interfering with flight crew members and attendants. Federal prosecutors charged an off-duty pilot accused of trying to shut off the engines of an Alaska Airlines flight on Sunday over the Pacific Northwest. Emerson is due to make his first court appearance in Portland, Oregon, where he is facing 83 counts of attempted murder.
