Who is Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu: सुखविंदर सिंह सुक्खू यह वही नाम है, जो पिछले 40 सालों से कांग्रेस के साथ जुड़ा हुआ है. इस बात से कोई इनकार नहीं कर सकता है कि हाईकमान और संगठन में उनकी गहरी पहुंच रही है. राज्य की जनता भी उन्हें खूब मानती है, इसलिए वह तीसरी बार विधायक बन चुके हैं. हिमाचल में जारी मुख्यमंत्री बनने की रेस से भले ही उन्होंने खुद को अलग ही क्यों न कर लिया हो लेकिन, अंदर से क्या खेल खेला जा रहा है यह पता लगाना काफी मुश्किल हैं.

सुखविंदर सिंह की उम्मीदवारी इसलिए भी काफी दमदार है क्योंकि उनके समर्थन में कई विधायक हैं और कांग्रेस विधायकों को खोने का जोखिम नहीं उठा सकती है. यही कारण है कि विधायकों का समर्थन बेहद अहम बन जाता है. वहीं, सुक्खू के राजनीतिक सफर की बात की जाए तो उन्होंने कांग्रेस संगठन में अपनी शुरुआत NSUI से की थी और 7 साल तक एनएसयूआई के प्रदेशाध्यक्ष रहे.
पढ़ाई के दौरान ही शुरू कर दिया था राजनीतिक सफर

हमीरपुर जिले के नादौन के रहने वाले सुक्खू लॉ में डिग्री हासिल करने के बाद से ही स्टूडेंट्स पॉलिटिक्स से जुड़ गए थे. उन्होंने एनएसयूआई (NSUI) से राजनीतिक जीवन की शुरुआत की और संजोली कॉलेज में सीआर और एससीए के महासचिव चुने गए. इसके बाद राजकीय महाविद्यालय संजौली में एससीए के अध्यक्ष चुने गए. 7 साल यानी 1988 से 1995 तक एनएसयूआई के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष रहें.
