श्रीरामचरितमानस पर टिप्पणी करके विवादों से घिरे अपने सहयोगी स्वामी प्रसाद मौर्य का बचाव करते हुए समाजवादी पार्टी (Samajwadi Party) प्रमुख अखिलेश यादव (Akhilesh Yadav) ने कहा है कि वह मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ से विधानसभा सदन में इस महाकाव्य की एक चौपाई में इस्तेमाल किए गए 'ताड़ना' शब्द की व्याख्या पूछेंगे. अखिलेश ने कहा कि 'हमारे मुख्यमंत्री एक संस्थान से निकले हैं और वह योगी हैं. मैं उनसे विधानसभा सदन में यह पूछूंगा कि श्रीरामचरितमानस में जिन पंक्तियों का जिक्र इस वक्त चल रहा है उनमें ताड़ना शब्द का इस्तेमाल किन लोगों के लिए किया गया है और वह किन पर लागू होती है.'

अखिलेश यादव ने कहा, ''हम तो राम और कृष्ण दोनों के साथ-साथ विष्णु के भी सभी अवतारों को मानने वाले हैं. सवाल स्वामी प्रसाद मौर्य की टिप्पणी का नहीं है. सवाल उन पंक्तियों का है.'' स्वामी प्रसाद मौर्य के खिलाफ मुकदमा दर्ज होने के सवाल पर उत्तर प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा 'भाजपा किसी के भी खिलाफ मुकदमा दर्ज करा सकती है.'

The question is about those lines." On the question of filing a case against Swami Prasad Maurya, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said, "BJP can file a case against anyone."
