Lebanon has received a written offer from US mediator Amos Hochstein on clarifying the long-disputed demarcation of its maritime border with Israel.
If both parties agree to its terms, they will hold an indirect meeting at a UN base in southern Lebanon to finalise details through US mediation.
Europe is seeking to replace Russian gas, and the Eastern Mediterranean is in a position to become an energy hub. But international companies will not explore parts of the area until the border dispute is resolved.
