Labour: 'If PM had any backbone, he would block Truss resignation honours list'

Jonathan Ashworth, the shadow Paymaster General, has urged the prime minister to have a "backbone" on the issue of resignation honours.

He was discussing calls by Labour for Rishi Sunak to block Liz Truss's resignation honours' list.

Ms Truss was in the top job for a matter of days in September last year.

Mr Ashworth said: "The key issue here is it's 12 months now since that quite disastrous set of decisions the Conservative government took, which ran our economy off a cliff.
