Shadow equalities minister, Anneliese Dodds, says Labour would take a "strategic approach" to China but that the government had only acted in an "ad-hoc" way.

Asked if she would be happy for Labour's shadow foreign secretary David Lammy to make the trip to Beijing, Ms Dodds said: "Well, we believe there needs to be engagement, but it can't be ad hoc.
