Kyle Rittenhouse, the 18-year-old on trial for fatally shooting two men and wounding a third during racial injustice protests in Kenosha, Wis. in August 2020, says he was just trying to defend himself.
The prosecution contends he was a vigilante looking for infamy.
But Judge Bruce Schroeder has also emerged as a controversial figure in the trial, ruling those killed or injured could not be referred to as "victims." He has also repeatedly scolded prosecutors, accusing them of improperly trying to introduce prohibited testimony.
