Construction workers in Kyiv finalized the replacement of Ukraine’s coat of arms on the Mother Ukraine Monument on Sunday, after facing delays earlier in the week as a result of adverse weather conditions and threats of an aerial attack from the Russian military.
Before emblazoning Ukraine’s coat of arms, the Tryzub, the colossal, 62-metre-tall effigy had a Soviet-era hammer and sickle plate on its shield, to represent the time Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union.
