A former Kosovar military commander is in court to face war crimes charges.
Salih Mustafa is accused of the murder, torture, cruel treatment and arbitrary detention of civilians during the 1990s conflict with Serbia.
It is the first trial to be heard in the Kosovo Special Chambers - an EU-backed court established in the Netherlands in 2015.
“I am not guilty of any of the counts brought here before me by this Gestapo office,” Mustafa, 49, said as his trial started, comparing the war crimes court to Nazi Germany’s secret police.
Al Jazeera’s Nadim Baba reports.
