Two people were killed and seven others were injured in a knife attack on a regional train travelling between the German cities of Kiel and Hamburg, authorities said.
Sabine Suetterlin-Waack, the interior minister of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, on the Danish border, said Wednesday that the suspect was arrested at a train stop in the village of Brokstedt.
“The suspect was arrested and maybe It should be mentioned here that the passengers apparently acted very courageously,” she said. “It appears that they prevented worse from happening.”
She said the suspect was between the age of 30 and 35 and appeared to be a “stateless” person.
