King Charles III marked his first Commonwealth Day as monarch on Monday, delivering a speech at Westminster Abbey in which he said he "draws great strength" from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
"The Commonwealth has been a constant in my own life, and yet, its diversity continues to amaze and inspire me," the King said.
The Commonwealth is made up of 56 countries that evolved out of the British Empire after the Second World War. The partnership between countries mattered a great deal to the late queen, who made numerous trips to its member countries and worked to foster friendly ties with its leaders.
