Former Minnesota-area police officer Kim Potter, who is on trial for the shooting death of Daunte Wright, broke down in tears multiple times as she testified in her own defence on Friday and at one point said she "didn't want to hurt anybody" as prosecution pressed her over the incident.

During the defence's questioning about details involving the shooting, Potter said the traffic stop that led to the incident "just went chaotic" after Wright tried to get back into his car and leave.

"I remember yelling, 'Taser, Taser, Taser,' and nothing happened, and then he told me I shot him," she said in tears.

Prosecutor Erin Eldridge also had Potter watch bodycam footage in which it shows the then-officer pointing her firearm at Wright. Potter then broke down in tears again, prompting a break request by the defence.

The defence rested their case on Friday at the end of the second week of testimony, with Potter as their final witness. It's expected closing arguments will begin Monday.
