The Ukrainian region of Kharkiv has been under relentless Russian bombardment in the past two days.
Air raid sirens and explosions could be heard from Kharkiv city early on Thursday morning.
The Mayor says it was struck by Russian missiles.
On Wednesday, three people were killed in another missile attack in the town of Lyptsi in northern Kharkiv.
Russian missile and kamikaze drone strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure have escalated recently, damaging or destroying up to 80% of the country’s thermoelectric power plants and half of its hydro stations.
Russia says the attacks are revenge for Ukrainian operations inside Russia, which have targetted oil refineries deep inside its territory.

Al Jazeera’s Charles Stratford reports from Ukraine's Kharkiv region.
