In rural parts of Kenya, many students have to walk long distances to get to school every day, often arriving late and tired.
But in an area known for its high altitude and for producing some of the world's best long-distance runners, some of the students view the multi-kilometre journies as training.
These teenagers are determined to rank among other elite Kenyan champions, such Eliud Kipchoge and Faith Kipyegon and say they do not mind their daily commute.

Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports from northwest Kenya.
