'Keira's Law' on domestic violence passes Senate

A private member's bill requiring that judges consider domestic violence and coercive control when issuing decisions passed the Senate. Bill C-233 is also known as 'Keira's Law,' for four-year-old Keira Kagan, who died in 2020 after multiple judges ignored warnings about her father’s potential for violence. Her mother and stepfather hope it will save the lives of other children and victims of domestic violence.
