The sanctions imposed on Russia after it launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine have been adding to the agricultural woes of its neighbour, Kazakhstan.
The world's largest landlocked country has banned cheap wheat imports in an effort to increase its grain exports.
But Kazakh farmers say they need more financial support if they are to increase productivity, as the government builds new railways and offers incentives to investors.
