Red rivers of lava and plumes of orange smoke erupted from Klyuchevskaya Sopka stratovolcano on the Russian Kamchatka Peninsula on Monday. Video filmed by an eyewitness showed the volcano shooting ash into the cold air.

The summit eruption of the 4,835-metre high volcano ended on Feb.8, but since the middle of February it has been emitting side eruptions, the local authorities said.

According to the officials, the eruption could affect nearby rivers and lead to the destruction of the roads connecting villages.
