Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul has reopened for domestic flights.

The operation of Kabul airport will be vital in rebuilding the country’s economy as international flights are expected to resume in the coming days. The local airport authority claims the airport was left in a state of disrepair following the departure of US and NATO partners.

The Taliban says work is still needed until the capital’s airport is operating at capacity, but some international bodies doubt the group will be able to keep the airport fully operational and secure moving forward.
