1. The congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol will focus on then-President Donald Trump's efforts to pressure state officials as part of his broader effort to remain in office despite losing 2020's election, committee aides said.

2. Russia summoned the European Union's ambassador in Moscow, fuming over what it calls an illegal rail blockade of a Russian outpost on the Baltic Sea, the latest stand-off over sanctions imposed over the war in Ukraine.
