Buildings that have developed cracks and are badly damaged in Uttarakhand's Joshimath will be demolished soon to protect adjoining buildings, officials have said. Bulldozers were out in Joshimath today as tearful residents evacuated their homes; the confrontation between the Tamil Nadu and government and Governor RN Ravi has escalated today, fuelled by the Governor's recent remarks about "a more appropriate name" for the southern state.
