UN human rights experts have called on the international community to initiate steps to address escalating violence in the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel.

This information came as violence escalated in Jerusalem earlier today with Hamas, the militant organisation which controls Gaza, called for the defence of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The situation is now peaceful, Sky News can report.
