Bezos’ idea was to sell books on the Net --- that became Amazon.com. Omidyar, created a little on-line flea market that is now E-bay, the hugely successful Internet auction site worth nearly 20 billion dollars for its American operations alone. Jeff Bezos’ Amazon has some 6 million regular customers. As Liz Hayes discovers these billionaires are not just revolutionising the way the world does business but changing the relationship business has with clients and staff.
