On the heels of the hottest year in recorded history, 2024 is set to be even warmer.

According to the EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service, last month marked the hottest January on record, with an average surface air temperature of just over 13 degrees.

It was also the first 12-month period when temperatures were more than 1.5 degrees above the pre-industrial average – threatening efforts to limit global warming.

As Megan Cobb reports the impact of rising temperatures is being felt across Canada.
