Security officials say Hezbollah fighters have been killed as Israeli forces targeted eastern Lebanon for the first time since the war on Gaza began.
At least two attacks were reported near the city of Baalbek in the Bekaa Valley.
Israel's army said it was striking what it called "Hezbollah terror targets deep inside Lebanon" in response to the downing of an Israeli drone.
Up to now, southern Lebanon has seen most Israeli strikes on suspected Hezbollah targets.
