One of the longest-held Palestinian-Israeli prisoners is back home after 40 years behind bars.
Maher Younis and his cousin were convicted of kidnapping and killing an Israeli soldier in the 1980s.
The celebrations were muted as Palestinians are not permitted loud parties or even to fly the national flag – by order of the new Israeli security minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir.

Al Jazeera's @AhmedMaher reports from the Palestinian village of Ara in Israel.
