Israeli media is reporting that the chief of the spy agency Mossad has received the green light to restart negotiations with mediators.
This comes after reports said David Barnea is travelling to Europe within the next two days to meet with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani for the second time in just under a week. Al Thani also serves as Qatar’s foreign minister.
Barnea returned to Israel just a couple of days ago after meeting with Al Thani, presumably to discuss restarting talks.
There were indications earlier that Netanyahu had blocked the Mossad chief from restarting these talks, saying that military pressure is the only way to bring back captives.
When asked about it in a press conference last Saturday, Netanyahu deflected the question.
But after those three Israeli captives were killed by the Israeli military, there’s increased pressure to restart the dialogue.
