Both sides have claimed victory after a ceasefire between Israeli forces and Hamas silenced the 11-day bombardments that have left more than 200 dead. (Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)

The truce took effect last night and appears to be holding, despite Israeli police firing tear gas and stun grenades at demonstrators holding Palestinian flags, at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

Violence at the mosque two weeks ago helped spark hostilities between Palestinians and Israelis.
