At least 54 people were killed when an alleged suicide bomber detonated their device at a political rally in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday, police said.
It is one of the worst attacks in the region in recent years.
The victims were attending a rally organized by the Jamiat Ulema Islam party, headed by hard-line cleric and politician Fazlur Rehman.
Rehman did not attend the rally, held under a large tent close to a market in Bajur, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhaw province that borders Afghanistan.
An Afghan branch of Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
