COVID-19 booster shots have been introduced in many countries. Scientists say the third dose is necessary to top up immune protection in vulnerable groups. But as people in wealthy countries begin lining up for COVID vaccine booster shots, the rest of the world is still waiting for the first dose.
The WHO says rich countries with large supplies of coronavirus vaccines should refrain from offering booster shots through the end of the year and make the doses available for poorer countries.
