Iraq's Supreme Court has rejected a petition from supporters of influential Shia leader Muqtada al-Sadr to dissolve the parliament, just under a year after elections failed to see a government materialise
The court has ruled it does not have the constitutional authority to dissolve Parliament -- saying it must dissolve itself.
Politicians allied with Muqtada al Sadr had re-filed a petition last month, after a previous request was rejected.
Sadr supporters have been protesting for months, calling for a complete overhaul of the political system -- and new elections.
