Iran has announced the seven mostly conservative candidates who have been approved to run in next month's presidential election.
Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Raisi who is close to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is now seen as the clear frontrunner to replace President Hassan Rouhani.
Several prominent figures were barred from running including former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and former Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
All candidates must be vetted by a panel overseen by Iran's Supreme leader Ayottolah Ali Khamenei.
