Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante confirmed Thursday that there were “multiple gunshot victims” following a shooting at Perry High School in Perry, Iowa, on Thursday morning but said the total number of injured was “still unclear.”
Sheriff Infante said the shooting happened before classes had started and as a result “very few students and faculty” were in the building.
The shooting at Perry High School happened as students were returning for the first day back to class following the holiday break.
The total extent of the injuries is still unclear. Perry is about 64 kilometres (40 miles) northwest of Des Moines.
