Internet and phone services cut off in Gaza

Israel stepped up bombardments of the Gaza Strip on Friday night, hours after internet and communications in the region were knocked out.

The blackout largely cut off the Palestinian territory's 2.3 million people from contact with each other and the outside world.

The Israeli military has signaled it is moving closer to an all-out invasion of Gaza, where it has vowed to crush Hamas.
