Indonesia's search and rescue agency has deployed a helicopter and hundreds of rescuers to continue the search for 35 people still missing after a devastating landslide at an illegal gold mine on the island of Sulawesi.

The landslide, triggered by torrential rain, occurred in the district of Suwawa in Gorontalo province, resulting in the loss of at least 23 lives.

One survivor, 40-year-old gold miner Rikson Buhungo, recounted being carried away by the landslide and dragged for about 50 meters. Although Rikson was rescued, he sustained injuries to his legs and upper body.

"In our camp, 10 people died and two survived. While at the camp next to ours there was one survivor with us, but the other camps below us, I don't know how many there are," Buhungo said.
