In Jammu and Kashmir's Doda, a defense initiative has been implemented to safeguard villages from anti-national elements, surpassing the traditional reliance on men. The Village Defense Guard (VDG) program has equipped and trained both men and women, with 250 female members currently proficient.

जम्मू-कश्मीर में वैसे तो आतंकवाद काबू में आ चुका है लेकिन पाकिस्तान की शह पर अब भी आतंकी घुसपैठ करके या अपने स्लीपर सेल के माध्यम से किसी वारदात को अंजाम देने में सफल रहते हैं। इसलिए सुरक्षा को फूलप्रूफ बनाने के लिए दूरदराज के इलाकों में रहने वाले ग्रामीणों की भी मदद ली जा रही है। खास बात यह है कि सुरक्षा के मोर्चे पर देश के लिए कुछ कर गुजरने की तमन्ना लिये महिलाएं भी आगे आ रही हैं
