India is home to more than 80 million Dalit women, formerly known as ‘untouchables’, who are considered some of the most oppressed in the world.

The recent rape and murder of a woman in Uttar Pradesh state sparked a new wave of anger amongst the Dalit community worldwide.
The BBC speaks to five such women about their identity and lived experience of caste discrimination.
