साल 1991.. तमिलनाडु के श्रीपेरंबदूर में चुनावी रैली चल रही थी. उसी रैली में एक महिला आत्मघाती हमलावर के विस्फोट में पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री राजीव गांधी की हत्या कर दी गई थी. इस हत्या की जिम्मेदारी श्रीलंका में सक्रिय आतंकी संगठन लिट्टे ने ली थी. राजीव गांधी ने न सिर्फ जवाहरलाल नेहरू और इंदिरा गांधी की राजनीतिक विरासत को संभाला, बल्कि देश को तकनीक और वैश्विक बुलंदियों तक पहुंचाने के लिए भी अनेक काम किए.

In 1991, an election rally was going on in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in the same rally by a female suicide bomber. The responsibility of this murder was taken by the terrorist organization LTTE operating in Sri Lanka. Rajiv Gandhi not only handled the political legacy of Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, but also did many things to take the country to technology and global heights.
