Human rights organizations and activists are concerned about what they see as a worrying trend in Germany. They say police are systematically using excessive force and are disproportionally targeting "politically undesirable protests,” such as climate activists and those expressing solidarity with Palestinians. Police say they are only enforcing the rule of law and do not classify protests as "good or bad", but act against those which are "unlawful and violent".
