Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to challenge the non-bailable arrest warrants issued against him for failing to appear before a sessions court that had served him warrants in the Toshakhana case.

Mr Khan's lawyers approached the court and pleaded to take up the case for hearing today (Tuesday) as the court that had issued arrest warrants for him had fixed today as the date for the hearing which could culminate in Mr Khan's arrest he had been evading for the last few days. PTI lawyers petitioned the court to rescind the warrants.

Earlier in the day, Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal took up the case when junior lawyer of the PTI chief, Sardar Masroof Khan, told him that the senior legal team would appear before court by 10am. When judge asked if Mr Khan would attend the hearing, he replied he had no information in this regard. On account of Mr Khan's non-appearance, the court again adjourned the hearing until 2pm on Tuesday.

The judge also inquired about the appearance of the guarantor in Imran Khan’s bail, saying the guarantor was responsible to ensure presence of the PTI chief in the case. Later, the court adjourned the hearing till 10am.

During the previous hearing, Judge Zafar Iqbal issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Mr Khan over no show-up in the case. He had directed the authorities to produce the suspect before the court on March 8 for indictment in the case.
