At least 100 homes were burned down and 400 people were left homeless on Monday after a fire broke out in a neighbourhood in the city of Iquique in northern Chile, authorities said.
"I got out of work early so I could come and salvage something, but as I arrived, there was nothing to be done. I lost everything," said a resident who wished to remain anonymous.
Authorities have set up shelters for the 280 families affected by the fire.
