Aerial footage showed the extent of damage in communities south of New Orleans, that took the brunt of Hurricane Ida, including Jefferson Parish where a local councilman says residents are left with practically 'nothing.'
South Louisiana is bracing for a month without electricity and reliable water supplies in the wake of Ida, one of the most powerful storms ever to hit the U.S. Gulf Coast, as people faced suffocating heat and humidity.
In addition, an aerial view of the damage done by Hurricane Ida in Grand Isle, Louisiana, was shared by the state’s Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser on August 31.
The now weakened remnants of the storm dumped heavy rain in neighbouring Mississippi as it travelled toward Alabama and Tennessee.
